JBA "Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum 8 Ball Team Tournament"

The long awaited Jamaica Billiards Association Wray & Nephew 8 Ball Team Tournament was launched on Saturday June 4th, 2011 at Mystic Sports Bar, 78³/⁴ Hagley Park Road. The Tournament has attracted twenty-six teams from across the island; fifteen rural teams and eleven corporate area teams. The tournament also includes a team from the sponsors Wray and Nephew.

The twenty-six teams have been subdivided into seven groups. The Tournament will run over a six weeks period with matches being played on Saturdays in a home and away format with ‘Best of Five Matches’ being contested. Each match will have three singles and two doubles games. The Tournament will then culminate on Saturday 23rd July 2011 with the top eight teams battling for the top prizes. The venue for the final playoff will be announced at a later date.

Representing the sponsor at the launch was Brand Sales Manager for Wray and Nephew, Mr. Dominic Beckford, who addressed the avid pool players and spectators. He, along with the President of the Jamaica Billiards Association, Ms. Nicole Lawrence, expressed their anticipation of an exciting six weeks of highly competitive pool games across the island.
