Austin came into the tournament as a past 2 time "B" class champion who has been consistent after competing in open tournaments for most of the
ranking competitions held this year. This time he stamped his class by beating some of the leading ranked players including Hall who is the reigning
number 1 player for the year 2009 and the 2nd ranking player of the year Noel "School Boy" Blagrove. Going into the finals both Austin & Hall had
similar wins in the semi finals as Austin defeated Blagrove 3-1 and Joe McLeod of Chelsea losing by the same margin 3-1 to Hall. Austin received

McLeod.
In the finals Austin won the 1st & 2nd racks with some tactical playing by both players in both games. The third game Hall won convincingly with a
flawless to make the score 2-1. The fourth game game Ewart the chance of equalizing when he attempted to sink the 8 ball in the side pocket only
to find the edge of the pocket and missing . This brought delight to the face of Austin who had 3 balls to sink which he did confidently and pocketed
the 8 to win a very memorable championship. This was the penultimate ranking tournament #12 and was successfully organized by Billiards
