Ewart Hall Wins His 4th Of 13 Ranking Tournaments
Ewart Hall from Hot Shots Pool Bar & Sponsored player for Billiards Jamaica.Com won his 4th Ranking Tournament for 2009 on Sunday 20th of
December at Island Delight Restaurant & Sports Bar, Byndloss Cross Roads, Linstead. Ewart defeated old rival Damian Simms also from hot Shots
3-0 in a considerably effortless victory. The tournament which was co-sponsored by Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum attracted 37 players
from across the island.
This tournament was Halls 3rd consecutive finals, when having lost the first of the 3 to Shawn Colly at the same venue in September went back to
Hot Shots just a week before to lose to Everett Austin in front of his own home crowd. Hall however in this tournament made short work of his
opponent Damian Simms, after a couple of close calls earlier in the competition had everyone at each point thinking he was soon to make his exit,
with nail biting matches from Ocheign "Jimmy" Carlos and the #2 ranked player Noel "School Boy" Blagrove one 8 ball away from defeating the
champ. Coming into the finals Hall defeated Ruiz 3-1 while Simms after losing the first game to Newman rallied back winning 3 straight, placing him
in the finals.
Hall received $50,000 plus trophy while Simms got $20,000 & trophy for his efforts. Losing semi-finalists' Fernando Ruiz and Elvis Newman both
received $5000 cash each.
Hall the #1 ranked player from 2009 played in 6 finals this year along with winning Mobay's "Get Rich This Year" with a cash prize of $100,000 and
was the only national finalist in the top four slot of the Heineken International Tournament
Island Delight's 8 Ball Tournament concluded a year of competition which gave players the opportunity to win some very attractive prize monies
from both business places and pool bars and have the chance at becoming number in Jamaica's standardized ranking chart.
