Roy Letts Wins His Second Ranking Tournament

Roy Letts, one of the islands top rated pool players, won the Pool Table & Billiards Supplies and Hot Shots Pool Bar sponsored 8 Ball Double

Elimination Tournament on Sunday October 18th at Hot Shots Pool Bar. Letts defeated Rhys Chin from Ocho Rios in the finals by virtue of 2-1 sets.

A total of 42 players island wide entered the tournament which included 8 of the top 10 rated players. Leading ranked player Ewart Hall who has

won 3 of the ranking tournaments so far, was beaten by Chelsea's Calhoun Melville then eliminated from the tournament by veteran and old rival

Feurnando Anderson on the losers side. The semi finals saw wins by Noel "Schoolboy" Blagrove beating Jody Mullings 3-0 , then Roy Letts who had

lost the final of the winners section to Rhys Chen 3-2 making it to the finals when he beat Noel for the second time in the tournament 3-2 to set up

the last match of the day against Rhys Chen.

Letts being the most experienced of the two contended with Chen, who tasted victory after reaching his 1st major finals in many years, for the

grand prize and bragging rights . Unfortunately this wasn't Chen's time as Letts, who had to beat him twice after losing the first encounter, did so in

no uncertain manner when he won the 1st game. Chen held on however leveling the score 1-1 then went ahead for the first time but could not

prevent Roy from winning the last two games, establishing another set & ensuring Roy his final chance to claim victory. In the decider both players

exhibited some very classical and entertaining shots to the delight of the crowd and fans but Roy proved too much  for Rhys winning 3-2 and

    claiming the championship title.

For his efforts Roy Letts received the cash prize of $50,000 & trophy from Samantha Samuels who made the presentation on behalf of the

sponsors. Rhys Chen received $20,000 plus trophy, 3rd and 4th place got $5000 each & 5th to 8th place took away $2500 each
