The All female Jamaican Pool team, Devils Angels sponsored by
Pool Table & Billiards Supplies beat visiting Female Pool Team
from St. Croix, Virgin Islands on Sunday September 4th, 6-5 in a two round
match set up at C&W Sports Club, Chalmers Avenue. The Angels won
3-2 in the 8 Ball set which saw Francine Cardoza beating Karen
Brin 2-1, Marina Ramkisson losing to Mony Westberger 2-1 and
Stephany Dixon losing to Juleeny Brito 2-1 to make the overall
score 2-1. The angels rallied back with Nicky Lawrence beating
Lisa Goulet 2-0 and Chyann Nichol winning against Chris Fields
2-1 to finish the overall 8 ball score at 3-2.
The Angels lost, however, 2-3 in the 9 Ball set which made the
overall score 5-5. Stephany Dixon lost to Karen Brin 2-3, Nicky
Lawrence beat Mony Westberger 3-1 and Marina Ramkisson blanked
Juleeny Brito 3-0 to put the overall score at 2-1. But the Heart
Breakers fought back with Chris Fields beating Chyann Nichol 3-2
and Lisa Goulet clipping Francine Cardoza 3-2 winning the 9 Ball
segment.
This forced a sudden death 1 set decider that was played by a
flip of the coin won by the Devils Angels who chose to play 8
Ball. The decider was set as a scotch doubles best of 3 match
which saw Nicky Lawrence and Francine Cardoza putting away the
top players Chris Fields and Karen Brin 2-nil to seal the
visiting teams fate. Trophies and accessories donated by
McDermot Cue Makers were presented by Eric Westberger from
St.Croix to each of the five angels plus the championship trophy
to Ruth Salmon.
This friendly was a part of a tour by the Heart Breakers to
promote Women pool players in the Caribbean and the institution
of Inter Caribbean Female Tournaments
